Modern Dance
Modern dance centers on a dancer's own interpretations instead of structured steps, as in traditional balletdancing. A modern dancer discards the classical ballet stance of an upright, erect body, often optinginstead for deliberate falls to the floor. It has a special technique for developing the use of the entire bodyin movements expressive of abstract ideas. Because a solid ballet based foundation is an essentialrequirement of this style of dance, students must be enrolled in a ballet class in order to take modern.
